"Super-Size Me"- Summary

MORGAN PURLOCK want to explores the consequences on the body and mind of fat food by himself, so he decide to eat McDonald’s meals three times per day for a moth and changes his healthy habits for a sedentary life. He also wants to demonstrate that fast food industry is one of the first consequence of American’s obesity epidemic.
United States of America is first country with the highest percentage of obese people in the world. In the state of Alabama approximately a 30.1% of adults and a 16.7% of children and adolescents are obese.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition fast food as hamburgers, French fries, bacon and all processed food are a contributing factor for obesity in the United States because they content large amounts of carbohydrates, added sugar, unhealthy fats and salt. This type of food is also high in calories and frequently replaces nutritious food in diet. With the time this type of food could cause diabetes, respiratory problems, depression and addiction.
Obesity is big problem and government don’t care it because meals in public schools are the primary example of developing of nutritional choices as the foods offered are not as healthy as they are claimed to be. Some school system provide children with these popular foods that are high in fats and calories but they are cheaper.

Spurlock wanted to show the true about this type of food so he decided to do an experiment that consisted of eating three McDonald’s meals per day for a moth, he only consumed only items offered on McDonald’s menu and ate only super-sized meals. In the end of the experiment he gained 24 lb. Increased his cholesterol, experienced sexual dysfunction and many heal problems.
