Ebenezer Scrooge is a miserable old man like his died business partner, Jacob Marley, Scrooge hated happiness, love, family, generosity and specially he did not want to have nothing to do with Christmas. Scrooge refused the invitation of his nephew Fred to a Christmas dinner and also told off the people collecting charity donations with grumbles and he didn’t want to give Bob Cratchit a paid day off for Christmas, because he thought it was a theft.
That night, he returned his apartment he received a visit of the ghost of his dead partner, Jacob Marley. Marley, who pallid and with heavy chains, told his story to Scrooge, because he did not want Scrooge to share his same fate, to wander the Earth eternally. Marley also told Scrooge three spirits will visit him during the next three nights.
The Ghost of Past was the first spirit that visited him, it seemed a child with a brightly head. The Ghost took Scrooge into past and showed him his childhood school days, his apprenticeship with a jolly merchant named Fezziwig, and his engagement to Belle, a woman who left Scrooge because she fell in love with a richer man, scenes from the past that traced Scrooge's development from a young boy, lonely but with the potential for happiness, to a greedy young man that deny love in his life. The Ghost of the past returned him to his bed, after he shed tears of regret.
Then The Ghost of the Christmas Present, a giant with a green robe. This Ghost took Scrooge through London to show him the importance of friends and family. The Ghost showed Scrooge Cratchit´s family preparing a feast in his poor house, and Cratchit´s crippled son, Tiny Tim, a courageous boy, who will die if the future isn´t changed. The humility and the kindness of the family moved Scrooge. Then The Ghost showed how the guests enjoyed his nephew´s party dancing and playing games. Before vanishing The Ghost showed Scrooge a boy and girl, Ignorance and Want, living under his coat and warned Scrooge to beware of Ignorance.
Finally Scrooge was visited by The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. The Ghost showed him how the people were happy for his death and no one seemed pained. Scrooge also saw how Cratchit´s family maintained their unity and love although Tiny Tim died. Scrooge desperately implored the spirit to alter his fate, promising to renounce his insensitive and avarice ways and to honor Christmas with all his heart.
After that, suddenly he woke up in his bed on Christmas day and he discovered that his adventure only took one night.
He sent a turkey to Cratchit´s house, gave a generous donation to a charity, and had a good time in Fred´s party. He also gave Cratchit a raise, and became a second father to Tiny Tim who didn’t die.
He kept the spirit of Christmas alive in his heart forever...
